Sir John Curtice, Professor of Politics at Strathclyde University, has told the BBC that he believes Boris Johnson’s political career is now over, in response to the former prime minister’s resignation as an MP.
In a lengthy written statement, Mr Johnson accused a Commons investigation into whether he misled Parliament of attempting to “drive me out” and said he is stepping down with immediate effect.
