Newcastle are expected to make an offer to Atalanta for wing-back Robin Gosens.

Gosens has participated in 50 goals for Atalanta since joining the club in 2017 and was hugely impressive for Germany at Euro 2020.

He has been out of action since late September after injuring a muscle in a Champions League fixture with Young Boys and is not expected to return until the middle of February.

However, the player’s lack of match fitness has not deterred Newcastle.

According to a report from Sky Italia, the Magpies are set to make an offer to the Serie A side for the 27-year-old, once they receive assurances he will be able to make a full recovery by mid-February.

And they are ready to make a succulent offer to convince the German to swap Serie A for a Premier League relegation battle, with the report adding Gosens could be paid up to £3million per year, triple the salary he currently earns.
