Aaron Rodgers created confusion with a Twitter post on Monday as football fans wait for his decision over this future with bated breath.

The four-time MVP quarterback is making a decision on his next move – whether that be retirement, staying with the Green Bay Packers or moving on to pastures new.

He’s been heavily linked with the New York Jets and in the last 24 hours momentum has gathered for that exact possibility. Gang Green are ‘cautiously optimistic’ about the move.

Rodgers then threw fans into a frenzy by writing on Twitter: ‘SULLLLLL,’ followed by two laughing crying face emojis.

The post sparked confusion but it seems his Packers teammate Rasul Douglas was behind it all, proving he has the star quarterback’s phone.

A social media user asked: ‘Wassup with you bro [sic]’ to which Douglas replied: ‘I don’t even know bro, honestly.’

Earlier in the day, Douglas was asked by a Twitter user to prove he had hold of Rodgers’s phone by posting something from the quarterback’s account.

‘What do you want me to Tweet on his account and I will, something that shows it’s me.’

Douglas had already been vocal when he and his teammates were questioned over why they weren’t publicly campaigning for Rodgers to stay.

‘Just thinking bout all these Jets players asking 12 to come join them in New York on social media,’ Ellerson wrote Saturday on Twitter. ‘Why aren’t 12 teammates asking him to stay here?’

But Douglas, who’s played with Rodgers since signing with Green Bay in October 2021, fired back, claiming their ‘leader’ knows how his teammates feel about him

‘Because we have his number. We can actually text him instead of writing it on social media,’ Douglas wrote. ‘As our leader he knows how each person on the roster feels about him.’

Rodgers liked Douglas’s tweet, but did not issue a written response.

A social media fan asked him ‘this you bro’ with a photo of Rodgers’s Twitter account likes.

The cornerback replied: ‘Hell yeah I’m liking my own Tweets with his phone.’

Jets players, in particular cornerback Sauce Gardner, have launched recruitment drives on social media amid the speculation.

After news that Rodgers to the Jets had gathered pace on Monday, Garrett Wilson wrote on Twitter: ‘Y’all shud see this smile on me rn [sic].’

He then later admitted he had no idea about the trade: ‘I ain’t gon fake it, I thought “Dov” bro tweet was the news break I was waiting for… smh. Idk anything. Sorry ab that [sic].’

It was reported on Tuesday morning that the Jets are trying to negotiate a deal for Packers’ wide receiver Allen Lazard, per ESPN.

Rodgers’s trade to New York could well be on the cards should Lazard make the move from the Packers.
