Aaron Rodgers will make his New York Jets debut on MNF on September 11

Aaron Rodgers’ Jets debut will be given the primetime treatment, as he’s set to take on the Bills on Monday Night Football in Week 1, it was announced on Good Morning America.

Meanwhile, the season will open three days prior in Kansas City, as the Super Bowl-champion Chiefs host the Lions on Thursday Night Football.

Rodgers joined the Jets in a blockbuster offseason trade after 18 years with the Packers, and his first time turning out for New York will be a highly-anticipated affair.

The Jets, with Rodgers’ help, are expected to improve on last season’s 7-10 mark as young stars like Sauce Gardner and Garrett Wilson continue to blossom.

Kansas City will have the goal of defending their crown after beating the Eagles 38-35 in the Super Bowl, though the Lions won’t be an easy first opponent.

Detroit finished the season 9-8 after a dreadful 1-6 start, and denied Rodgers a spot in the playoffs as they beat the Packers in Week 18.

Rodgers and his teammates will also be taking part in the league’s first ever Black Friday game on November 24, the league announced.

Unlike the Jets’ season opener, the game will be played during the day, with the November 24 contest set for a 3pm kickoff. 

The league has also announced others schedule highlights from this season’s slate ahead of the full release at Thursday 8pm ET.

Brian Daboll’s New York Giants will face their divisional rival Eagles on Christmas Day.

And Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs will host Joe Burrow and Co. on New Year’s Eve in Week 17.
