AC Milan closing in on signing Chelsea midfielder Christian Pulisic after first two bids were rejected – as USA superstar gets set to end his difficult four-year spell in the Premier League
Christian Pulisic is closing in on a move from Chelsea to AC Milan, with the two teams currently sorting out the final details of his move to Serie A.
The American international had made it clear to Chelsea in recent weeks that heading to Milan was his preferred option, amid interest from Lyon, and the 24-year-old will now get his way.
As reported earlier in the week, AC Milan’s first two bids were rejected – the latter of which a $24m offer – but there is now confidence the deal will get done as the parties discuss an improved, third offer.
Personal terms already said to have been agreed, such was Pulisic’s desire to move to the Italian giants, and now a medical and travel are being arranged.
After Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Pulisic is the second Chelsea player to go to Milan in this summer transfer window and would follow Fikayo Tomori and Olivier Giroud to Italy, all former players of Todd Boehly’s club.

Earlier reports had claimed that AC Milan were ready to switch to their next target, Villarreal’s Samuel Chukwueze, had Chelsea rejected a third bid, but it now appears to have got the green light from the Premier League club.
Lyon made an offer of around $27m too at the weekend but that move did not appeal to the midfielder.
Pulisic saw a move to Manchester a United fall through last summer and has been looking for a fresh challenge after failing to cement a regular starting place under different Chelsea managers.
The USA international has made it clear that he only wishes to join Milan, telling Chelsea he would not join French side Lyon irrespective of its offer.
Pulisic, who cost Chelsea $74m from Borussia Dortmund, is one of 11 players who could leave.

He is a player who knows how to adapt to any position but in Milan’s tactical chessboard he will most likely occupy the area of the pitch vacated by Brahim Diaz.
In his tormented four years at Chelsea, Pulisic missed 55 games due to physical problems, missing the field for a total of one and a half years – an alarming statistic that focuses attention on why the player has disappeared from the radar of the top European clubs.
Stefano Pioli’s hope is that Pulisic has definitively recovered his best physical condition.
