Chelsea‘s Andreas Christensen will reportedly not leave to join a Premier League club ‘out of respect’ for the west London side.

The Danish defender is out of contract in the summer and could be set to leave, with a host of clubs, including Barcelona and Bayern Munich, interested in him.

February marked 10 years since Christensen joined Chelsea but a decision on his future seems no closer.

If he is to bring his time at Chelsea to an end, the 25-year-old will not join a Premier League club ‘out of respect for the Blues.’

That’s according to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, who tweeted: ‘Andreas Christensen won’t consider any proposal from Premier League clubs to respect Chelsea. Barcelona and FC Bayern are both interested in signing him since January – still in talks.

‘Barca have approached both Azpilicueta and Christensen. No full agreement yet.’

Thomas Tuchel will be desperate to keep Christensen, especially as it seems fellow defenders Cesar Azpilicueta and Antonio Rudiger both look destined for the exit this summer.

When quizzed about Christensen’s future back in November, the Chelsea boss said: ‘I have no good news. That was my understanding weeks ago – that Andreas wants the same as me, that he wants the same as the club, and that’s why for me it was a zero problem situation because everybody wanted the same as far as I understood it. But we are waiting a long time now for confirmation.

‘It is on Andreas to act. How he acts on the pitch, he needs to act off it and walk the talk because he tells us that he loves Chelsea. He tells us that he wants to stay because he is a big part of a big club.

‘I think he is a perfect fit and I think that he is not done here. His career here is, by far, not finished. But, like I said, it’s on him. We want the commitment and hopefully we get it.’

Since joining the club in 2012, Christensen has made 153 appearances for Chelsea and he played a crucial role in their Champions League triumph last season.
