Former England striker Andy Carroll is set to undergo a medical at West Bromwich Albion.

The former Newcastle, Liverpool and West Ham striker is a free agent after a short-term deal at Reading expired earlier this month.

Carroll, who has earned nine caps for England, was released by Newcastle last summer and spent four months training alone before joining Reading.
The target man accepted a wage of £1,000-per-week to prove his form and fitness at the Championship club.
Carroll has done exactly that and has been injury-free since joining the Royals in November – scoring two goals in eight games and generally impressing with his performances.
Carroll scored two goals in eight games during his brief spell with Championship side Reading
He scored perhaps the greatest disallowed brace for Reading earlier this season with an overhead kick and a 30-yard volley both ruled out for offside.
He has been since attracting interest from the likes of Burnley and Bournemouth as well as West Brom this month.
West Brom are looking to bolster their options up front after signing striker Daryl Dike for £7million from Orlando City on January 1, but a hamstring injury to the 21-year-old has forced Valerien Ismael back into the transfer market.

Dike sustained the injury against Peterborough on January 22, and is expected to miss around two months.
West Brom currently sit fifth in the Championship despite only winning one of their last six matches.
Boss Ismael is under increasing pressure after a run of poor results with players unconvinced by his approach and methods as they bid to remain among the promotion hunt.
Ismael will be hoping Carroll can bring a new lease of life into the Baggies squad.
