Brazil boss Tite has shut down rumours linking him to a job at Arsenal as he revealed he was saddened by the ‘fake news’.

Reports in Brazil last week claimed Tite had already spoken to Arsenal technical director Edu about a move to north London after the World Cup in Qatar, when he plans to step down from his role in charge of Brazil.

The two Brazilians worked closely together at Corinthians and Tite employed Edu as the national team’s general co-ordinator for three years from 2016.

However, the 60-year-old dispelled the links on Monday as he claimed it was not a ‘situation’.

‘Sorry, Arsenal. Sorry, Arteta,’ he said, via Goal. ‘It is not a situation. It didn’t come from us. No, there is absolutely nothing.’

‘At a time of so much ‘fake news’, information that is not true makes me sad and I hope that this is corrected.

‘My family can rest easy because I have dignity and great respect for the Brazilian team.

‘My feeling is very sad and I get sad because information is passed to the public that is a lie.

‘I tell people who feel identified with me to be calm, because Tite has a personal attitude that values his professional activity and knows of the responsibility with the Brazilian team.’

Tite’s comments came ahead of Brazil’s World Cup qualifier against Bolivia. The South American team are currently leading CONMEBOL and will be one of the favourites heading to Qatar.

Meanwhile, Arsenal have found success under Mikel Arteta this season and currently sit in the final Champions League qualification spot with 10 games left to play.

Arteta is into his third year in charge at Arsenal, with encouraging signs of progress this season.

The young boss is popular among fans and players, including the Brazilian contingent. Gabriel Martinelli told Sportsmail this week: ‘I feel Arteta will be one of those lifelong coaches, the ones with a lot of titles to their name and their place in football history.’

The Spaniard’s contract expires next year and the club’s links to Tite last week appeared to be the first hint of Edu preparing for life without him by sounding out potential alternatives.

However, Arsenal strongly deny that any talks about a role at the Emirates between Tite and Edu have taken place.
