Arsenal have been handed a major boost as they chase down Noussair Mazraoui, with the Ajax right-back set to leave when his contract expires in the summer.

The 24-year-old, who has impressed for the Dutch side this season, has revealed he is ‘open to something new’ with less than six months remaining on his current deal.

The Gunners will however have to fight off the advances of the likes of Roma, Leeds United, Barcelona and a number of other clubs who are all monitoring the situation.

The Moroccan international has scored four times in 22 appearances this campaign and has been influential for Ajax.

When asked by Dutch media on his plans for next season, Mazraoui said: ‘That’s a good question. I think the chances of me remaining at Ajax are very small, maybe 5%.

‘I am open for something new, I have played here for 16 years and I think it’s a good moment to leave.’

Mazraoui has been with Ajax since he was just eight-years-old, and has played 125 times for the club.

The full-back is however now free to sign a pre-contract agreement with another club as he seeks a new challenge.

He would seem an ideal fit for Arsenal to provide competition for Takehiro Tomiyasu, who joined the Gunners in the summer, while Hector Bellerin left to join Real Betis on loan.

Bellerin is expected to leave the north London club permanently, meaning boss Mikel Arteta will be keen to bring another right-back into his squad.

Arteta flew to the United States for face-to-face talks with Arsenal owner Stan Kroenke to push for new signings earlier this week.

It is understood the Gunners are now focussing their attentions on Real Sociedad’s Alexander Isak and Real Madrid’s Luka Jovic after giving up hope of a deal for Fiorentina forward Dusan Vlahovic before the deadline.
