Arsenal vs Barcelona – Stan Kroenke’s SoFi Stadium pitch needs emergency repairs before kickoff
Stan Kroenke’s £4billion ($5.1billion) SoFi Stadium has been heavily scrutinized after ground staff were seen desperately trying to patch up pitch problems prior to Arsenal’s match against Barcelona.
The game was delayed for 30 minutes and it is believed that the state of the pitch was a contributing factor.
It is understood that manager Mikel Arteta had concerns of the pitch’s safety before the game.
Arsenal’s players were seen bouncing balls into the turf with little purchase in the air.
Country artist Morgan Wallen played a concert at the stadium on Sunday, grass having been laid over the turf within the 48 hours prior to this fixture.
Ground staff applied water across the pitch in the hour before kick-off, and were seen with tools trying to patch up areas across the surface.
Arsenal owner Kroenke will likely seek answers for the matter, with player safety potentially risked just two weeks before the Premier League season.
