Ben Stokes is hilariously left gobsmacked after Zac Crawley smashed Pat Cummins for four from the very first ball as England look to make a statement in opening Ashes Test
Zac Crawley made an emphatic opening statement in the first Test of the Ashes, and it’s fair to say captain Ben Stokes was very impressed with his opener in Birmingham.
Stokes won the toss and elected to bat first on a batter-friendly wicket at Edgbaston, with the hosts looking to prove that their new attacking brand of cricket – labelled ‘Bazball’ – is the real deal.
And Crawley got off to the perfect start when he crunched Australia captain Pat Cummins for four from the very first ball of the series.
It is a stark contrast to the first ball of the previous series Down Under, when Mitchell Starc dismissed Rory Burns at the Gabba.
Stokes’ jaw dropped as he watched on from the balcony, a reaction that left fans in stitches.
