Bathurst champion finds love very close to home – he is now dating the glamorous co-owner of his V8 Supercars team

The relationship between Shane van Gisbergen and his team boss Jessica Dane has been a well-kept secret in V8Supercars circles, but in the wake of his Bathurst victory, it has now gone public.

In spite of the potential for professional conflicts, the quietly spoken 33-year-old has been seeing Dane at least since the Kiwi claimed victory at Bathurst earlier this month.

Dane is the daughter of Triple Eight Racing’s former owner Roland Dane, who played a major role in the team’s development.

Dane was co-driver for van Gisbergen on the Australasian rally circuit this year

Having bought a stake in the team back in 2017, Dane was also the team’s deputy team manager for this year’s Bathurst entry.

She also worked closely with Craig Lowndes before his retirement in 2018.

Dane is also a keen motorsport enthusiast and owns and rides Ducati motorcycles

Dane is now the second highest stakeholder in the team with 30 per cent, behind Tony Quinn [VIP Petfoods founder], who has a 40 per cent cut. Her father still holds 11 per cent, while Jamie Whincup, former driver and current boss of the team, has a 19 per cent share.

Dane is the commercial operations manager and oversees all aspects of the team’s day to-day operations, sponsorships, partnerships, HR, and legal.

Wide World of Sports reports that the romantic coupling is an ‘open secret’ but they are reluctant to discuss the details of their relationship.

However, Dane has stated in recent weeks that they are not engaged.

Dane has provided at least one glimpse of their world through her role as van Gisbergen’s partner on the Australasian rally circuit. Dane was also reported to have accompanied van Gisbergen on his first 24-hour Le Mans race.

Van Gisbergen has won two of the past three Bathursts, after a 2020 triumph with Garth Tander.

Victory at Bathurst meant van Gisbergen had broken Scott McLaughlin’s record of 18 race wins in a single season, and he is set to add to that tally with races to come at Gold Coast and Adelaide.

Triple Eight Racing’s terminator has won almost two thirds of races this year and 10 of the last 12 since the July NTI Townsville 500.
