England’s bowling attack came up trumps on Day Three as the hosts took the six wickets required to dismiss their visitors before the close of play at Headingley.
The rain threatened to quash any chance of action, but those who braved the conditions were treated to a fine display from Chris Woakes, Mark Wood and Stuart Broad.
Travis Head top-scored for Australia with a tremendous cameo after play finally resumed on Saturday evening. The left-handed batter smashed three sixes and finished on 77 before his dismissal ended the innings after a ball of the 67th over.
It set England a target of 251 with a little under 30 mins to bat. The hots reached a score of 27 without loss thanks to openers Zak Crawley and Ben Duckett.
Play resumes tomorrow with the third Ashes Test finally poised.
