Golden State Warriors general manager Bob Myers has admitted Draymond Green may be a ‘complicated guy’ but has been integral to the Warriors organization.

Green was suspended by one game by the NBA for lightly stomping on the Kings’ Domantas Sabonis after the Lithuanian had grabbed his ankle as he attempted to get up the court.

The Michigan State man has come under fire for yet another ejection, and ensuing suspension, particularly given the Warriors’ 2-0 deficit in its first round series vs. Sacramento.

‘If you want to talk about what he’s done for the organization, that’s not up for dispute.’ Myers told reporters. ‘Without him, we don’t have a championship, but he’s a complicated guy.

‘Winning is messy if you want to be honest about it… there’s an edginess to it,’ Myers said. ‘There is tension. Certainly, he’s crossed that line but he has been punished for it… Draymond is not perfect. But I haven’t met anyone who is perfect… he’s been a big part of a lot of winning.’

Tests revealed Sabonis had a bruised sternum and resultantly is questionable for Thursday’s Game 3.

Green has long walked a fine line of pushing the limits with officials – and has even expressed he now feels they’re out to get him.

The 33-year-old Green has been called for six flagrant fouls and 27 technical fouls in 147 career playoff games. He was also ejected from a playoff game against Memphis last season.

Most memorably, in 2016, Green was suspended for a crucial Game 5 loss to LeBron James and the Cavaliers in the NBA Finals after accumulating too many flagrant fouls in the playoffs that season. The Warriors infamously wound up losing in seven.

‘His mistakes are out there for the world… each time he’s misstepped my hope is that he learns from it. He’s been punished. So for the people who ask, ‘Well, when is it going to stop?’ Those people may think this is positive, I suppose.’

‘The guy’s a force. He’s unique. He’s a leader,’ Myers said. ‘He will tell you that he’s made mistakes. You cannot hide from them, they’re out there for everyone to see. He has a good heart, I know that. But that doesn’t mean he’s mistake-free.
