The Charlotte Hornets have been dealt another injury blow this season as forward Kelly Oubre Jr is set to miss 4-6 weeks with a hand injury, according to The Athletic.

Oubre has been playing through the pain of a torn ligament in his left hand this season and is set to finally have surgery to fix the issue.

Oubre had been averaging a career high 20.2 points per game this season after suffering the injury to his shooting hand the first week. He has also been averaging 7.8 assist, six rebounds, and 1.3 steals

To this point this season Oubre has made 80 of his 3-point shots to lead the Hornets and his 260 3-point attempts ranks 20th in the NBA.

The 27-year-old had sat out three of four games attempting to rest the injury, but left only 15 minutes into his return game against Oklahoma City.

Injuries to key players have been a theme in Charlotte this season as starting center Mason Plumlee, veteran starter Gordon Hayward, and Jalen McDaniels have all missed extended periods of time this year.

The worst injury blow to the team has been to superstar point guard LaMelo Ball, who has missed over 20 games due to two separate sprains to his left ankle.

Charlotte’s massive injury list has left the Hornets with the worst record in the NBA at 10-28 this season.

McDaniels and James Bouknight stand the best chances of seeing a substantial increase in playing time due to Oubre’s absence.
