Derby’s future has been secured after Clowes Developments completed their takeover at Pride Park, the club’s joint administrators have announced.

Clowes, a local businessman, stepped in to save the club from potential liquidation when Chris Kirchner’s bid ultimately failed earlier this month, with the American missing multiple deadlines to complete the purchase.

The Derby-based property developer had already concluded a deal to acquire Pride Park from the former owner Mel Morris, when he was declared the preferred bidder to take over the Rams, last week.

Now, the joint administrators, Quantuma, have confirmed the life-long Derby fan has completed the purchase of the club, too.

‘Quantuma joint administrators, Andrew Hosking, Carl Jackson and Andrew Andronikou are delighted to confirm the completion of the sale of the business and assets of Derby County Football Club to Derbyshire based property group, Clowes Developments (UK) Ltd for an undisclosed amount,’ Quantuma said in a statement.

‘The transaction sees the Club exit from administration and be brought under the same ownership structure as its stadium, Pride Park.’
