Dyson’s UK expansion continues as it plots a £100m Bristol tech centre

Dyson has revealed it is planning to invest £100million towards the creation of a technology centre in Bristol.

The vacuum and battery manufacturer said the site in the heart of the port city will house ‘hundreds of software and AI engineers’ as well as the company’s commercial and ecommerce teams for Britain and Ireland. 

Staff at the site will be working on a pipeline of products that stretch 10 years into the future, the company added.

The latest investment follows on from last year’s announcement that it would be opening a robotics centre at the Hullavington Airfield Campus, near Chippenham, in Wiltshire.

Dyson employs more than 3,500 people involved in UK research and development across sites in Hullavington and Malmesbury, as well as at offices in London. 

The company also confirmed investment in an R&D campus in the Philippines costing £166million.

It also wants to accelerate plans for its next-generation battery plant in Singapore, which will be completed this year and be operational by 2025.
