Harry Brook and Jofra Archer are the notable inclusions on England’s one-day tour of South Africa next month.

Yorkshire batter Brook is named in a 50-over squad for the first time after picking up a Twenty20 World Cup winner’s medal and the man-of-the-series award for the historic 3-0 Test victory in Pakistan so far this winter.

The 23-year-old is joined in a 14-man party by Sussex fast bowler Archer, who has not played international cricket for almost two years due to injury.

Archer has not featured since March 2021 due to a combination of a long-term elbow injury and a stress fracture in his back.

One other positive on the fitness front is the selection of Reece Topley, who damaged ankle ligaments on the boundary rope cover during the build-up to the World Cup in Australia but has made excellent progress since.

With Joe Root focused on the Test series in New Zealand in February and Jonny Bairstow still on the sidelines, there is a recall following a six-year absence for Ben Duckett – another of those to excel in Pakistan.
