Yet another talent from ESPN has been laid off as a result of Disney’s corporate restructuring.

Gene Wojciechowski, a longtime ESPN college football writer, announced on Twitter that he was another one of the names that were laid off from the company.

‘June 30 was my last day at ESPN. I’m indebted to every editor, producer, director, crew member, researcher, and colleague during that 25 1/2-year run,’ Wojciechowski tweeted

‘Grateful to all those who let us parachute into their lives and trust us with their stories. No Plan B yet. For now, just thanks.

Wojciechowski joins his fellow ‘College GameDay’ crew member, David Pollack, as the second name laid off by the Worldwide Leader in Sports.

In recent years, Wojciechowski took on the role of lead GameDay reporter – doing in-depth pieces on players at schools the show visited ever since ex-GameDay member Tom Rinaldi bolted for Fox Sports.

Wojciechowski was with ESPN since 1992 after a long career of reporting at newspapers across the country.

He graduated from the University of Tennessee in 1979 getting a degree from the school’s College of Communications.

Wojciechowski made a number of stops at the Denver Post, the Dallas Morning News, and the Los Angeles Times before jumping to ESPN. During his time there, he continued reporting for the LA Times and later wrote for the Chicago Tribune.

He’s one of about 20 personalities – including both reporters and on-air talent – that have been axed from the company as part of their latest round of layoffs on June 30.

Disney, ESPN’s parent, announced the goal of eliminating 7,000 jobs across the company’s various departments.
