A £1.5million supercar was seized and hauled away by police after being driven without insurance.

The Ferrari F40 was towed on March 31 in Lowestoft, Suffolk, leaving the owner having to pay a £150 recovery fee and daily storage costs until they collect it.

Police shared images of the luxury vehicle, which has a top speed of 201mph, being taken away while strapped to a tow vehicle.

Officers said the driver had only recently purchased the Ferrari when they were caught driving it illegally.

According to the law, the driver will get the pristine red vehicle back only once they have bought an insurance policy.

According to Ferrari’s website, the F40 was first built in 1987 to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Italian luxury sports car manufacturer’s production.

What makes the vehicle so incredible and sought after is that there were only 1,311 made, according to the company.

For those that are lucky enough to own one, it has a top speed of 201mph (324km/h).
