NRL stars Latrell Mitchell and Jack Wighton have been arrested and charged after allegedly fighting each other in a Canberra nightclub early on Sunday morning. 

The close mates were celebrating Wighton’s 30th birthday when the incident occurred, and witnesses saw the pair clash at around 2am.

Police charged Mitchell with resisting arrest, Wighton was also charged and both men spent the night in jail, according to the Daily Telegraph.

They are now likely to face court.

South Sydney fullback Mitchell and Canberra Raiders star Wighton have been good friends for years, playing alongside each other for the Indigenous All Stars side, the NSW Blues and most recently, the Kangaroos national side at last November’s Rugby League World Cup.
