Gael Clichy was soaked by a pint of beer thrown from the crowd and Martin Tyler was jeered at an event to celebrate 10 years since Manchester City‘s dramatic first Premier League title win.

Several stars from the City side that snatched the championship from Manchester United‘s grasp thanks to Sergio Aguero‘s 94th-minute goal were present at a celebratory evening hosted by the club.

But one overzealous fan in the crowd of 2,000 at the Mayfield Depot apparently chucked a drink onto the stage which hit Clichy.

And according to the Manchester Evening News coverage of the event, Sky Sports commentator Tyler, who provided such a memorable soundtrack for television viewers of City’s title win, was booed when introduced on stage.

Reporter Alex Brotherton tweeted: ‘Martin Tyler, the voice of the Aguero goal, has been introduced to the stage. The reception from 2,000 pissed up City fans is… not overly welcoming.’

Two minutes later, he added: ‘Someone lobbed a pint on stage and it landed on Gael Clichy. Fair to say he wasn’t best pleased.’

MEN’s report of the event suggested that the beer was intended to hit Tyler, 76, but instead struck Clichy.

Sergio Aguero, Yaya Toure, Gareth Barry, Micah Richards, Joleon Lescott, Pablo Zabaleta and Nigel de Jong were also in attendance to mark the 10-year anniversary of the thrilling 3-2 final day win over Queens Park Rangers.

The title was staying at Old Trafford with QPR leading 2-1 entering stoppage time. But Edin Dzeko equalised in the 92nd minute and then Aguero smashed home the title winner with the clock reading 93:20.

French left-back Clichy made 203 appearances for City during six seasons with the club after signing from Arsenal at the beginning of that title-winning campaign.

‘I can only compare the togetherness of that [City] team that season with the Arsenal Invincibles team,’ Clichy said at the event.

Those at the event were able to watch a re-run of the famous match with the players on stage, with streamers going off when Aguero’s winner went in.

It came after the club unveiled a state of Aguero celebrating his title-winning goal outside the Etihad Stadium.

‘Truthfully, it is a very beautiful thing for me, to see myself 10 years ago is very moving,’ said Aguero.

‘In those 10 years I was able to win a lot of trophies and was able to help the club become one of the most important in the world.

‘I am very grateful to the club for making this statue in recognition of my football career in Manchester. It is something very special.’
