Two-time MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo is sitting out the enticing matchup against Phoenix Sunday due to a quadricep injury.

Antetokounmpo officially missed with a bruised quad, suffered vs. Miami, in what is a blow to the spectacle at the Fiserv Forum.

‘It’s enough where he can’t play today, but I think we’re also confident that this is just a fairly common occurrence in our league,’ Bucks coach Mike Budenholzer said before the game.

‘You hit knees, you knock, sometimes it takes a day or two, and it’s really nothing more than that. The level of conversations have all been kind of along that line.’

Antetokounmpo had started Friday’s game after a sprained right wrist caused him to leave Milwaukee’s 112-100 win at Chicago on February 16, which marked the Bucks’ last game before the All-Star break.

Bobby Portis started in place of Antetokounmpo.

Antetokounmpo played only 20 seconds in the All-Star Game and had his wrist examined the next day in New York, but he recovered from that injury quickly enough to play Friday.

During his time in Utah, Antetokounmpo took hold of a clipboard as he coached Dwyane Wade’s team to victory in the NBA Celebrity Game

The Greek Freak then revealed he sees the sidelines in his future following his time on the hardcourt.

‘When I retire, I want to be a head coach,’ Antetokounmpo told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.

‘A lot of people don’t know that about me, but I want to be a head coach. I really want to be.’

Though the difficulty of coaching some of the world’s best basketball isn’t lost on the two-time MVP.

‘It’s kind of hard, because you have no control. And, I know the game of basketball, I know how to play the game of basketball.’
