Ian Wright attacks Lord Sugar’s ‘f***ing foolishness’ over Women’s Euros

Ian Wright has hit out at Lord Sugar for his ‘f***ing foolishness’ after he claimed the BBC introduced male pundits because he called them out for ‘sexist’ all-women panels.

The Apprentice host has received plenty of backlash for his controversial comments about the broadcaster’s coverage of the Women’s Euros.

BBC presenter Gabby Logan was quick to brand Lord Sugar a ‘parody’ and now Arsenal legend Wright has responded by slamming his comments and labelled them ‘laughable’.

Wright said in a video on Twitter: ‘Can everybody stop sending me the Tweet? I was taking my daughter to singing lessons and the Tweet’s just blowing up, it’s doing my head in, I can’t believe it.

‘Alan, the thing is my friend, rather than just saying “I got it wrong lots of men are working at all levels of the tournament”, you doubled down on some complete f***ing foolishness. 

‘In your mind you actually thought the BBC phoned me up, never mind the fact that we’ve been ready to do this for a year, I’ve been booked for a year. You genuinely think they called me up saying “Ian you’ve got to get back from Germany asap, Alan Sugar’s Tweeted and we can’t upset him, we need to get you on”. You genuinely believed that that happened because that says to me my God your ego is totally out of control.

BBC presenter Gabby Logan was the anchor and called out Lord Sugar after he wrote on his Twitter account: ‘I was pleased to see my old mate Ian Wright was given the opportunity to commentate on the ladies game last night. 

‘I wonder if my earlier tweet below touched a nerve. Of course BBC sport will say not at all, Ian was already lined up for it.’

Logan slammed Lord Sugar as a ‘parody’ – just days after Lord Sugar sparked fury on social media following other controversial comments about the BBC’s coverage of the major tournament.

The Apprentice host said on the same platform on Saturday: ‘I am watching the women football and notice that ALL the commentators are women. 

‘I also note when men’s football is on there is a symbolic female commentator to cover the broadcasters a**e. Should I complain there should me a male commentator in women’s football.’

Logan was quick to respond Lord Sugar’s claim all-women panels were ‘sexist’ on Saturday, writing: ‘We have plenty of men working on this tournament Lord Sugar, don’t fret you’re not being eradicated.’

The BBC presenter was not the only one to call out Lord Sugar with commentator Robyn Cowen singling him out during the match in Brighton.

He added: ‘In response to your earlier tweet about commentators… may I humbly refer you to the work of Jonathan Pearce [who has been commentating on the tournament].

‘Enjoy the sunshine.’

Football commentator Jacqui Oatley replied to Logan’s ‘parody’ label, writing: ‘It gets funnier and funnier,’ alongside a laughing crying face emoji.
