Inter Miami ‘increasingly confident’ Jordi Alba will follow former Barcelona teammates Lionel Messi and Sergio Busquets and join the MLS team
Inter Miami are growing increasingly confident that Jordi Alba will follow Lionel Messi and Sergio Busquets in joining the team.
According to The Athletic, the left-back is closing in on a move to Major League Soccer as David Beckham‘s team closes in on a triple-swoop of distinguished players.
Alba has won six Spanish League titles and a Champions League in over 450 games for the team but left on the expiration of his contract this summer.
It would be another significant signing for Miami and an important one for Major League Soccer too as it looks to enhance its reputation across the globe.
Miami are hopeful they can unveil Messi and Busquets in a ceremony at their DRV PNK stadium on July 16. It remains to be seen if Alba can join his former Barcelona teammates.
It is unlikely Miami will stop there, given co-owner Jorge Mas has vowed to bring in at least ‘two or three’ other stars around Messi and Busquets.
One addition might be the legendary Real Madrid and Spain defender Sergio Ramos – for so long a fierce rival to Messi when he was the focal point of Barcelona’s attack.
Reports in Spain at the weekend said that Ramos – who has left French side PSG alongside Messi this summer – is just ‘one step away’ from completing a move to the MLS team himself.
