Jake Paul has claimed he took the hallucinogenic drug ayahuasca with Aaron Rodgers and will follow the NFL star in doing a darkness retreat.

Rodgers is currently at the center of football’s biggest story as he tries to force through a move to the New York Jets from the Green Bay Packers while Paul, he says, has been reflecting on his boxing foray after getting beat by Tommy Fury.

And in an interview with FOX, he opened up on his relationship with the 39-year-old quarterback.

‘Aaron and I were actually together when we did the ayahuasca,’ Paul claimed. ‘He’s more publicly known for speaking about it, but I was actually there with him when we did it.

We spent the week there doing it. Definitely share that similarity in terms of spirituality and reflecting and going into the deepest parts of the mind. Definitely have been doing some of that.’

Paul then admitted that he will do a darkness retreat like Rodgers did earlier this year. Rodgers headed to Oregon for four days in darkness where, he said, he reflected on life and whether he wanted to carry on playing football.

‘It’s funny, I was planning on doing the darkness retreat later this year,’ Paul said. ‘I think it’s always powerful to just take some time and see how everything unfolds, what the next steps are in terms of my boxing career in all that.’

Rodgers said that he found the experience difficult at times and could have left a day earlier, but didn’t regret doing it.

He told the Pat McAfee show: ‘It was a great reset for me, for my body and my mind,’ the 39-year-old said of the four-day excursion.

‘Maybe a little bit longer than I needed. I feel like by the time I got to the fourth day, I was like, ”Alright, I’m ready to come out.”

Rodgers was in a 300-square foot cabin that made it hard for him not to walk into the walls.

‘Food that came at 6 o’clock every day, so I had an idea of where I was,’ Rodgers said when asked if he was able to track time while in the darkness. ‘You’re kinda counting down the nights once you get to the third night. ”I got one more night of this after this night.” That’s how I gauged the process.

‘It’s so quiet that you’re just listening for that door handle to come up, and you’re like: ”Finally, it’s 6 o’clock, I can eat.’

As for ayahuasca, Rodgers has been only effusive in the impact it has had on him.

‘I definitely had a fear of death,’ Rodgers said last December. ‘And ayahuasca, and psilocybin [mushrooms] actually, really helped me with that and relieved a lot of the stress around the idea of needing to accomplish things before I actually die.’

He added last September: ‘I did ayahuasca in 2020 and I won two MVPs. ‘I don’t believe that it’s a coincidence. I don’t really believe in coincidences.

‘I believe in science and synchronicities, and I really feel like that what that allowed me to do is to have a greater love for the game that I play, greater love for my teammates and I had maybe my best season of my career in 2020 and then followed up last year with an even greater integration of a lot of those lessons.’

It is not currently known when Paul joined Rodgers.
