Eddie Hearn has told Jake Paul there is ‘absolutely no way’ he can become world champion in a damning assessment of the YouTuber’s boxing potential.

Paul, 25, has won all five of his professional contests since venturing into boxing, most recently claiming back-to-back victories over former UFC champion Tyron Woodley.

The online sensation, who was scheduled to fight Tyson Fury‘s younger brother Tommy in December before the latter pulled out through injury, has big plans in the sport and is adamant that he will one day capture a world title.

But in a brutal interview with iFL TV, Hearn rubbished Paul’s chances of doing so by telling him face to face that he will never become a ‘world-class fighter’.

When asked about his ambition to win a world title, the Matchroom boss said: ‘Everyone’s entitled to have a dream, [but] I think there’s absolutely no way he can beat a world champion and become world champion.

‘But I will say he’s improving a lot, he’s dedicated to the sport. I don’t know how good he is because he hasn’t really faced a real fighter yet. It’s not his fault, he signed to fight Tommy Fury…’

Paul then interrupted to argue: ‘A five-time world champion in Tyron Woodley is a real fighter.’

However, Hearn replied: ‘Mate, he’s not a real boxer. He’s not Jake. A real boxer is someone that that is his craft.’

He then added: ‘What I’m saying is, [Woodley] does not qualify to give you any right to talk about fighting for a world title – and nor does Tommy Fury actually.

‘But, I’ll give you the props, I’ll give you the respect, you’re improving all the time, but the proof will be in the pudding.

‘By the way, I have said that I think Jake Paul is better than some fighters. But I don’t believe you will ever get close to being a world-class fighter.’

Hearn and Paul are currently working together to co-promote Katie Taylor and Amanda Serrano’s undisputed lightweight showdown at Madison Square Garden.

Paul, who has been serving as Serrano’s promoter for close to a year, has agreed a $1million bet with Hearn that his fighter will come out on top in New York this Saturday.
