Jamal Murray, who tore his ACL two years ago after bursting on basketball’s biggest stage in the 2020 NBA Bubble, erupted for 40 points as the Nuggets took a big step to close out their first-round series matchup against the Minnesota Timberwolves.
The 26-year-old, from Canada, put on a stellar performance, scoring 40 points on 13-21 shooting (61 percent overall field goal percentage) in Denver’s 120-113 home win.
He wasn’t the most productive player of the game, however, as that tile belonged to Minnesota’s Anthony Edwards, who recorded 41 points, connecting on 14 of his 23 shots.
Nuggets star center Nikola Jokic almost got himself a triple-double, ending with 27 points, nine assists and nine rebounds. He made 10-of-19 of his shots, though he managed to only make 1 of his 3 3-point attempts.
Denver opened Wednesday night’s game by scoring 31 points in the first quarter, compared to Minnesota’s 22 points.
