Jarrod Bowen suffered a gruesome injury in West Ham‘s 2-0 win over Wolves at the London Stadium.

The England forward was filmed by the television cameras grimacing while waiting for medical attention with his third finger on his right hand pointing away at a 90 degree angle.

Having scored moments prior, Bowen’s seemingly pleasant afternoon was briefly interrupted having suffered a brutal-looking injury to one of his fingers.

Neverheless, having been seen to by West Ham’s medical staff, the forward was able to carry on and completed the full 90 minutes to ensure West Ham climbed out of the relegation places.

Supporters on Twitter were left squirming, however, after broadcaster Sky Sports showed footage of Bowen’s finger sticking out at an unnatural angle.

‘Bowen mate, I don’t think your finger is supposed to bend like that,’ one social media noted.

While another simply wrote: ‘Ouch at Bowen’s finger.’

Another supporter sought to save others viewing the injury by saying they would not post a picture, but noted it’s being out of place.

‘I’m not posting a photo y’all can just search Bowen finger, it’s not gruesome it’s just… not pointing in the right direction,’ they wrote.

‘Bowen has broke his finger wtf! Looks absolutely grim,’ another supporter noted.

‘Sorry, did anyone else just see Bowen’s finger?’ one queried.

Bowen scored his first Premier League goal of the season to ensure West Ham of three points following Gianluca Scamacca’s excellent strike in the first half.

Speaking after the game, the England forward admitted he and his team-mates had not been at their best so far this season but hailed their persistence and their never-say-die attitude under manager David Moyes.

‘It’s just what we needed. We haven’t had the start we wanted. And then an international break where we can go out and regroup our thoughts and go again and get ready to be on the front foot and just be a bit more clinical and dominant with our performances,’ he said.

‘I thought today we started without the ball and we knew that. But what this manager does is, we’re a tough group to break down and you see on the counter attack, especially, the chances that we had.

‘Two chances, two well-taken goals. Clean sheet, the defenders will love that more than us attackers. But massive three points for us today. We’ve got a lot of games now.’
