Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow has joined music star Jason Derulo investing in a women’s professional volleyball team in Nebraska, according to TMZ.

The team would join the Pro Volleyball Federation, a league set to make its debut in February of 2024.

According to Derulo, Burrow is reportedly joining him and his business partner Danny White in the purchase of a team set to play in Omaha, Nebraska.

A press release from the PVF announced the team, but did not mention that Burrow would be launching the team with Derulo and White.

DailyMail.com has reached out to Burrow’s representation for comment.

Speaking to TMZ, Derulo seemed eager to help advance women’s sports and felt volleyball was a perfect place to begin.

‘Women’s volleyball is actually leading. It’s not the guys this time that are leading,’ Derulo told the outlet.

‘I’d like for real pro volleyball to be the platform that just changes women’s sports forever.’

‘This is another special day for Pro Volleyball Federation,’ Dave Whinham a founder of Pro Volleyball Federation said in a statement.

‘The reaction we have had since announcing the launch of the league just over ten weeks ago has been phenomenal.

‘We always knew we wanted a team in Omaha, and we knew it would take a special ownership group to live up to the huge potential of the Omaha market.

‘We know we have found that special group and are so excited to see what Danny and Jason will do to undoubtedly make Omaha a flagship franchise in our league.’

‘The trajectory just seems so bright. It’s just been growing year after year after year and if it continues on this path, especially with this platform, I think it can absolutely be the next big thing.’

Joe Burrow and his parents Jimmy and Robin Burrow were announced as founding partners of the PVF back in December of 2022 – with Jimmy listed on the league website as its Director of Brand Advancement.

While Burrow was born in Iowa and raised in Ohio, his family does have ties to Nebraska – with Jimmy as well as Joe’s brothers Jamie and Dan having previously played football at the University of Nebraska.

The University of Nebraska is also home to a notable women’s volleyball program that leads the nation in both total and average attendance. The team has won five NCAA championships.
