Joe Mixon makes feelings on a would-be coin flip EXTREMELY clear by trolling NFL with celebration

Joe Mixon used his first-quarter touchdown celebration Sunday as a chance to remind the NFL of his disdain for coin tosses.

Mixon hit out at the league last week after it passed a resolution that would have seen a coin toss used to determine homefield advantage between the Bengals and Ravens in a potential wildcard matchup – if Cincinnati lost to their rivals over the weekend.

While the rules originally called for win percentage as a tiebreaker in the event of a canceled game, the NFL changed course to account for the Bengals-Bills no contest after Damar Hamlin, who shared the first image of himself from his hospital bed Sunday, suffered a cardiac arrest.

And while the Bengals moved to 12-4 with their 27-16 win over Baltimore – rendering the coin flip controversy a moot point – Mixon didn’t miss the chance to troll the league in the first quarter.

After punching in a one-yard score 1:11 remaining in the first quarter, Mixon pulled out a coin and tossed it in the air as his teammates gathered around.

He then pretended to kick the coin into the crowd before kicker Evan McPherson made the extra point to give the team a 10-point lead.

While Cincinnati wound up comfortably winning the AFC North over the Baltimore (10-7), the resolution made it a must-win to avoid a coin flip, as the team’s would’ve been separated by mere win percentage points with a Ravens win.

Mixon wasn’t a fan of the resolution last week.   

‘So we not following the rules no more,’ he tweeted.

Bengals coach Zac Taylor was also displeased with the league’s choice to change its own rules.

‘It’s black and white, it’s in the rulebook,’ Taylor told reporters Friday.

While Cincinnati were able to wrap up the division on Sunday, they won’t be escaping the AFC North just yet.

The Ravens will return to Paycor Field next Sunday night as both teams eye a trip to the divisional round.
