Jofra Archer joined in with England’s Twenty20 squad training at the Kensington Oval on Tuesday – although there is still no timeline on a return for their World Cup-winning fast bowler.

The 26-year-old is still not ready to bowl after having a second surgical procedure on his troublesome right elbow last month.

However, he has spent time in the England bubble over the past 48 hours to reacquaint himself with his team-mates, having not played international cricket for 10 months.

Archer did fitness work on the outfield while the players here to take on West Indies in a five-match Twenty20 series took part in fielding practice.

He also took part in running drills on Monday, having bridged into the England bubble not long after the squad’s weekend arrival. He has spent a lot of the winter recuperating at his family home in Barbados.

The Sussex player last played for England on the tour of India last March and has since undergone two operations on his elbow.

England will want him back to his best ahead of this autumn’s Twenty20 World Cup in Australia but have already ruled him out of any action before the start of the English domestic season – the fixtures for which are set to be released later this week – including a three Test series in the Caribbean in March.
