Jose Mourinho had a face like thunder after Roma’s defeat to RB Salzburg and reacted furiously to the questions he was asked during his post-match interview.

Roma suffered a 1-0 loss to Salzburg in their Europa League tie on Thursday night. It was Nicolas Capaldo’s 88th-minute winner that proved to be the difference.

Matthias Jaissle rubbed salt in Mourinho’s wounds by recreating the Portuguese manager’s infamous touchline celebration from the 2003-2004 season.

Jaissle ran down the sideline to celebrate Salzburg’s goal – replicating the time Mourinho galloped off after Porto’s winner in the Champions League at Old Trafford.

Mourinho failed to see the funny side of Jaissle’s celebration and sulked in the Roma dugout. He carried the same negative energy into his post-match interview.

The reporter began the interview with Mourinho by saying: ‘We are here with the special one but it wasn’t a special night tonight. Why was that?’.

Mourinho look irritated by the question and refused to answer. Instead, he starred back at the reporter in disgust before looking around at the other staff members present.

Mourinho’s silence promoted the reporter to ask: ‘Can you hear me?’. Before telling her colleagues: ‘I don’t think he can hear me’.

The reporter decided to repeat her question, saying: ‘Why wasn’t it a special night?’. To which Mourinho responded by saying ‘why wasn’t it what?’ with a frown on his face.

The reporter reiterated her question, saying: ‘It wasn’t a special night for you. Why was that?’. Mourinho looked shocked by the question and shrugged before saying: ‘I don’t understand your question’.

‘That’s football,’ Mourinho said in his post-match interview with Sky Sports. ‘I think we dominated the game. We were always in control of a very calm game for us.

‘We missed some very easy chances tonight. And mind you, there is a clear penalty for us in the first half. We were unlucky. Conceding goals in the last minutes is unfair.

‘We’re getting better, but if you don’t put the ball into the back of the net there is always the risk of losing.

‘We know who we are, we know our limits. You won’t hear me say anything bad when the team gives everything on the pitch. That’s the case tonight.’
