Jose Mourinho’s Roma future appears to still be up in the air after it emerged that the club’s chief decision-makers are still yet to hold talks with the Portuguese coach.

Mourinho joined Roma in 2021 and lead the club to a European trophy last season after they clinched the Europa Conference League title.

However, concerns have grown over his future at the Serie A giants beyond the end of the season despite his current contract tying him to club until 2024.

There have been disputes over transfers and frustrations at Roma’s performances this season that has seen them struggle to cement their place in the league’s Champions League places, with Roma currently one point adrift of the top four.

Mourinho has enjoyed a strong relationship with the club’s supporters but appears yet unable to convince Roma’s owners that he is deserving of a new deal with no new offer currently on the table, according to Get Football Italy.

The 60-year-old has reportedly demanded at least three new players, a striker, midfielder, and defender, be brought in during the summer transfer window if he is to stay in charge.

Mourinho wants to sort out his future during the current season, not at the end of Roma’s ongoing campaign, and is apparently keen to meet with the clubs owners the Friedkins.

The former Chelsea, Manchester United, and Tottenham manager could show himself to the exit door if his demands aren’t met by the club.

That could pave the way for recently-departed Spurs head coach Antonio Conte to return to Italy after his time in charge of the London outfit was brought to a premature end over the weekend.

Mourinho has previously been linked with a return to the Premier League and is open to a third spell at Stamford Bridge if current Blues boss Graham Potter is relieved of his duties.

Roma chiefs don’t appear to be in a hurry to tie their current manager down to a new deal with suggestions that no phone call or in-person meeting have taken place or are scheduled to do so.

His relationship with Roma sporting director Tiago Pinto has also reportedly ‘gone cold’ with the pair having different views on the club’s future vision.

If he does leave in the summer then Mourinho would likely seek out a Champions League club to continue his managerial career at.
