Jurgen Klopp‘s agent Marc Kosicke has dismissed suggestions the Liverpool manager could replace Hansi Flick as Germany head coach, after the national team crashed out at the World Cup group stage for the second time in four years.

Germany finished third in the group despite a 4-2 win over Costa Rica, after Japan earned a shock 2-1 win over Spain.

Kosicke was asked by Sky Sport Germany whether Klopp would be available to take the national job, should the German Football Association (DFB) part ways with Flick or the coach opt to resign.

“It’s a media issue,’ Kosicke said. Jurgen has a contract in Liverpool until 2026 and he intends to fulfil it.”

Klopp signed a four-year contract extension at Anfield back in April, having U-turned on his initial plan to leave the Premier League side when his deal expired in 2024.

The extension would see Klopp remain Liverpool manager for 11 years, with the 55-year-old having led the club to Champions League glory and a Premier League title.

Kosicke had previously admitted that his client would be interested in managing Germany one day.

The DFB have confirmed they will begin talks Flick this week in the aftermath of Germany’s World Cup exit.

Flick took on the role as head coach last summer after Euro 2020, where Germany were beaten by England in the last-16.

DFB President Bernd Neuendorf said managing director Oliver Bierhoff and Borussia Dortmund CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke will also take part in the talks.

Both Flick and Bierhoff are contracted until 2024.

‘It will be a first meeting where we will discuss what the situation is,’ Neuendorf told reporters before Germany flew home from Doha.

‘My expectation of the sporting management is they will make an initial analysis, a sporting analysis of this tournament, and be developed for the period after the tournament with a view to the European Championship in our own country.

‘This analysis must also include the development of the national team and our football since 2018, since the last World Cup.’

Germany are assured of automatic qualification for Euro 2024 as the host nation of the tournament.
