Juventus are reportedly poised test Fiorentina’s resolve for Dusan Vlahovic with a bumper £50m January transfer window bid for the striker.

The Serbian has emerged as one of the most prolific forwards on the planet this season, with 10 goals and two assists to his name in 13 Serie A matches so far.

Following their poor start to the season, both domestically and in Europe, Juve find themselves in dire need of top quality personnel to breathe new life into the side.

And now, according to latest reports in Gazetta dello Sport, Vlahovic is the man they believe can turn their season around.

It is claimed that Juve will table a £50m bid for the 21-year-old, despite Fiorentina having made it clear their asking price is set at £70m.

The report adds that Juve have taken encouragement from the player’s representative, meaning Max Allegri now feels he can get his man for under the set value.

Vlahovic is said to be keen on the move in order to remain in the Italian top flight and continue his meteoric progress.

In recent months the Serbian has been linked with a host of Premier League sides, including Tottenham, Manchester City and more recently the now super-wealthy Newcastle.

In total, the Serbia international has scored 27 goals in 37 Serie A games with Fiorentina in the 2021 calendar year, a league tally only bettered by Bayern Munich star Robert Lewandowski (38) in Europe’s top five divisions.

Newcastle’s need to recruit a striker is more pressing after they dropped to the bottom of the table.

Eddie Howe’s era as boss began with a 3-3 draw against Brentford on Saturday, but it was not enough to prevent them from being overtaken by Norwich, who beat Southampton in their first league win this term.
