Benzema was crowned as the winner after helping his side win the Champions League, LaLiga, the Spanish Super Cup and the European Super Cup last season.

Benzema’s partner, Ozuna, attended the ceremony in Paris’ Theatre Du Chatelet on Monday night and watched her loved one pick up the prestigious award.

The American model, who used to work as a waitress in Las Vegas, posted several photos to her Instagram story after the ceremony took place.

She was seen cuddling up to Benzema on the plane as they returned home to Madrid on Monday evening. She captioned the photo ‘proud is an understatement’.

The 32-year-old, who is signed to several US-based modelling agencies including State Management, was seen wearing a burgundy dress.

While Benzema wore a black tuxedo over a banded collar shirt – drawing a stark resemblance to the outfit worn by Tupac Shakur at the 1996 American Music Awards.

Ozuna went on to share a photo of them both wearing matching T1 Tiffany bracelets on the plane home. She captioned the picture ‘Twinning’.

Tiffany say their T1 design represents ‘individual strength and perpetual power’. They claim the bracelet expresses ‘what lies within’.

Additionally, the 18 karat gold bracelet is wrapped in diamonds and costs £30,700 a pop. Ozuna paired the T1 design with Tiffany’s Hinged Bangle – which retails at £6,325.

The final photo Ozuna shared on her Instagram was of the Ballon d’or, engraved with Benzema’s name.  She was seen holding it while sitting next to her partner on the plane.

Benzema was delighted to have won the award. Speaking after the ceremony, he said: ‘To see this prize in front of me makes me really proud.

‘It was a childhood dream for me and all the work I have done, I never gave up. I always had in my mind that anything was possible, when I was not in the France team I never stopped working hard.

‘I am really proud of my journey here. It was not easy, it was a difficult time and also for my family as well. To be standing here today for the first time, I am happy for my work and will keep going.

Benzema became the ninth Real Madrid player to claim the award since 2000 and just the fifth Frenchman to ever win the trophy.

The other players included in the top ten, in descending order, were Erling Haaland, Luka Modric, Vinicius Jr, Thibaut Courtois, Kylian Mbappe, Mohamed Salah and Robert Lewandowski.
