Kings’ Fox declares he’s ’99 to 100% playing’ Game 5 vs. the Warriors despite breaking finger

Kings star De’Aaron Fox plans to play in Sacramento’s pivotal Game 5 vs. the Warriors despite breaking his finger, he told reporters Tuesday.

Fox fractured the index finger on his left shooting hand midway through the fourth quarter of Game 4, where Golden State eked out a 126-125 victory at home to even the series.

But despite initially being listed as doubtful to play in the next game, the All-Star will apparently try to push through the pain for his team.

The guard said after practice Monday that he’d ‘most likely’ be playing in Game 5. 

‘For me right now, it’s just the [pain] tolerance on the pad of finger and making sure I can shoot the ball,’ he said.

‘I’m like 99 to 100% playing,’ he added, per Fox40’S Sean Cunningham. ‘No ifs, ands or buts.’

Fox was seen taking shots Tuesday with a splint on his finger, but the results weren’t great, as he went 1-of-6 from three-point range in one clip.

The former Kentucky guard has thrived in his first-ever playoff series, averaging 31.5 points, 7.0 assists, 6.0 rebounds and 2.5 steals through the first four games.

Fox also became the first winner of the NBA’s Clutch Player of the Year award last week.

Momentum has shifted in the Kings-Warriors series after Sacramento successfully defended their homecourt and went up 2-0.

The Warriors won Game 3 114-97 before taking Game 4 as well, essentially setting up a best-of-3 series the rest of the way.

After finishing as the No. 3 seed in the West, the Kings entered the postseason for the first time since 2006, while Golden State are looking to defend the title they won last season.
