Lionel Messi whips PSG fans into frenzy being only player with ‘GOAT’ on his top

Lionel Messi fans delighted in the Argentine superstar appearing to be the only PSG player who had ‘GOAT’ written on his warm up top ahead of the Champions League game against Juventus on Tuesday night. 

Fashion brand GOAT, described as a ‘next generation lifestyle platform’, agreed a multiyear sponsorship deal with the French club in April which sees their logo printed on the sleeves of all of the team’s kits. 

However, a video of PSG’s players walking in from their warm up at the Parc des Princes last night made it seem as though it was just Messi who had it on his sleeve.

This was unlikely to be the case, as other players may have had GOAT on the other sleeve and the whole team had it on their shirts during the game. 

Nonetheless, it still whipped Messi fans into a frenzy given the obvious link to the Argentine often being described as the GOAT – Greatest Of All Time. 

‘Should anyone be surprised?’ one supporter wrote on Twitter. Another added: ‘Man is a God on earth.’

‘The whole universe no player comes close,’ a Twitter user echoed. 

But others may have had it on the other sleeve and the whole team had it on their match shirts

‘He really what every decorations or acknowledgements he is getting right now… He is the real GOAT [sic],’ another said. 

However, some supporters argued that Messi is not the GOAT and criticised the 35-year-old. 

‘Because they pander to a diva that is not even in the top 5 of all time,’ one fan said on Twitter. ‘Embarrassing. He probably demanded it when signing for PSG. Absolute disgrace to the game.’

Another argued: ‘Too bad he isn’t the real goat Pele is much better then he will ever be.’

‘Is this because he just walked around the pitch grazing like a goat all night doing nothing?’ a third joked.

It was Kylian Mbappe who was the star of the show on Tuesday night as he scored twice in the first 22 minutes to help PSG to a 2-1 win over Juventus as they began another quest to finally lift the Champions League.
