There are injury doubts over Liverpool star Thiago Alcantara after he was subbed off after 50 minutes in the Reds’ Premier League opener at Craven Cottage.

Thiago was seen to by the physio on the pitch but was able to walk off unassisted.

The 31-year-old has become a key part of Jurgen Klopp‘s side and played 39 games across all competitions last season.

He also went off injured in his last Premier League game against Wolves at the end of last season.

It comes after the Liverpool boss spoke before the game about injury issues at the club. He said: ‘Pre-season was really good but over the five weeks, it’s not the whole group, but we have too many injuries now.

‘We are ready for the game today but we need the boys to come back sooner rather than later, that’d be helpful – apart from that, nothing negative.’

The Reds are currently without Naby Keita, Ibrahima Konate, Curtis Jones, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Kostas Tsimikas and Diogo Jota in a growing injury list.

Liverpool suffered similar injury problems  in the 2020/21 season, where serious injuries to Virgil van Dijk and Fabinho reduced Liverpool to their only finish outside of the top two in the past four seasons.

Fulham held their own with the FA Cup Champions, holding them to a 2-2  draw at Craven Cottage.

The Reds will be hoping to improve on today’s performance as they look to challenge for the Premier League title.
