Liverpool star Thiago Alcantara is reportedly on Barcelona‘s five-man midfielder shortlist ahead of this summer as the LaLiga giants look to revamp their engine room.
The midfielder, 31, was joined by Dani Olmo, Xavi Simons, Arnau Martinez and Sergio Gomez, according to Diario AS.
Thiago played with manager Xavi after breaking into the Barcelona first-team and went on to make 101 senior appearances before leaving for Bayern Munich in 2013.
He spent seven years at Bayern, winning seven Bundesliga titles and the Champions League, before joining Liverpool in 2020.
The Spain international has spent two months on the sidelines with a hip injury and last featured for Jurgen Klopp’s side in February.

Upon return from the World Cup in Qatar, Thiago started every match for the Merseyside club before being sidelined.
During the former Bayern Munich player’s absence, Liverpool have won just four of their last 10 matches.
RB Leipzig attacking midfielder Olmo came through Barcelona’s academy as a youngster, before departing the club to join Dinamo Zagreb in 2014.
Adding the 24-year-old to his squad would provide Xavi with a much-needed option in the final third of the pitch.
Simons joined Paris Saint-Germain in 2019, but PSV sealed a permanent transfer for the teenager last summer.
The highly-rated youngster came through Barcelona’s academy before moving to PSG.
Gomez joined Manchester City from Anderlecht for an initial £11million in the summer, with the club electing against loaning the Spaniard after failing to sign Marc Cucurella, who moved from Brighton to Chelsea.
Gomez caught the eye playing at Anderlecht under former City captain Vincent Kompany last season.
He joined the Belgian club a year ago after a spell at Borussia Dortmund.
