Dallas Mavericks All-Stars Kyrie Irving and Luka Doncic were seen laughing on the bench together during Sunday’s NBA All-Star game.

Immediately after Irving placed a pair of shoes into his equipment bag and handing the bag to an NBA staff member, Doncic was seen reaching behind Irving’s back to tap him on his left shoulder.

Irving proceeded to look over to his left  after the tap, before Doncic burst out with laughter.

Mavericks’ fans can take this as a good sign that the new star backcourt in Dallas has gotten their relationship off to a good start following Irving’s trade from the Brooklyn Nets days before the NBA trade deadline.

Irving had requested the trade out of Brooklyn after the team repeatedly failed to engage in contract extension talks after what was a rocky relationship between the two sides.

The 30-year-old guard was criticized after missing the majority of last season due to the fact he did not receive the COVID-19 vaccine and was ineligible to play in home games due to the vaccine policy New York City had in place at the time.

Not wanting any ‘part-time’ players, the Nets also held Irving out of road games for a large portion of the season, only to relent midway through the 2021-22 campaign.

New York’s COVID policy mandated athletes and entertainers who resided in the city be vaccinated to play or perform, while it did not apply to visiting players or performers.

Irving also received criticism and an eight-game suspension for his failure to immediately apologize after posting a link to a movie deemed to be anti-Semitic.

Before being dealt to Dallas, Irving was having a superb season averaging 27.1 points, 5.3 assists, and 5.1 rebounds after playing in 40 games with the Nets.

Doncic on the other hand has been an MVP candidate averaging 33.3 points, 8.1 assist, and 8.8 rebounds.

The duo came out on the losing end in the All-Star game however as Team LeBron fell 184-175 to Team Giannis.

Despite Irving scoring 32 points he and Doncic fell to defeat in All-Star game in Salt Lake City
