  • Amrabat picked up recognition from his fine displays at the 2022 World Cup
  • Manchester United are considering a move for the Moroccan international
  • Erik ten Hag’s side though would need to raise money before they can do so

Manchester United are keen on making a move for Sofyan Amrabat, but will need to raise money before they can make a swoop for the Moroccan international.

Amrabat has picked up attention across Europe in the aftermath of his fine displays for Morocco in the 2022 World Cup – helping them become the first African nation to reach the semi-final stage.

The Fiorentina midfielder would cost the Red Devils £30m and Erik ten Hag is keen to strengthen his side in the centre of the park.

United could look to do a move by the end of the transfer window, but only if they are able to sell more players.

The likes of Fred, Scott McTominay and Donny van de Beek have all been linked with moves away from Old Trafford this summer and any of their exits could help United in their chase for the 26-year-old.

Manchester United’s initial priority is a striker and they are hopeful of landing Atalanta’s Rasmus Hojlund before the start of the Premier League season.

The Red Devils made an opening verbal offer of £42.8m plus a further £8.5m in add-ons – though the Serie A side want over £60m for the Denmark international.

Paris Saint-Germain are also reportedly interested in Hojlund, while Randal Kolo Muani is another potential option for the Red Devils.

The search for a striker could delay any pursuit of Amrabat until later in the transfer window.

Funds could come through the sales of one of their current midfielders.

Galatasaray are interested in Brazilian international Fred, though the two clubs are reportedly still working on a price.

McTominay has been linked with a move to West Ham, who are looking to sign a midfielder following the sale of Declan Rice to Arsenal for £105m.

Van de Beek meanwhile has admitted that he might have to leave Old Trafford to get regular first team football.
