Manchester United will launch their pre-season preparations with a friendly against old rivals Leeds in Oslo this summer.
United announced on Thursday that the two clubs will meet at the Ullevaal Stadium on July 12. The Old Trafford club have previously played in the Norwegian capital against Valerenga, Kristiansund and Atletico Madrid.
United will also face Lyon at Murrayfield before leaving for a four-match tour of the US. Erik ten Hag’s side will play Arsenal in New Jersey, Wrexham in San Diego, Real Madrid in Houston and Borussia Dortmund in Las Vegas.
Following the announcement of the Leeds fixture, United’s football director John Murtough, said: ‘Manchester United is hugely popular in Norway, and we are delighted to be bringing this game to our Norwegian fans. Oslo is home to the club’s largest official supporter’s club, and I know our fans will be out in force to watch this historic match.
‘There is a lot of history and a fierce rivalry between the two clubs, providing a competitive first match for Erik and the team to start their preparations for the 2023/34 campaign.’
Tickets for the match will go on pre-sale to fans who have pre-registered and Manchester United season ticket holders, official members and executive club members from 9am on May 26, before going on general sale from 9am on May 30.
