MLS: Eintracht Frankfurt ‘agree a $4m-plus-add-ons deal’ with Philadelphia Union for Paxten Aaronson

Paxten Aaronson is set to be the latest star to leave the MLS for Europe after Eintracht Frankfurt agreed a deal with the Philadelphia Union for the midfielder, according to reports. 

The wonderkid could join his brother and Leeds star Brenden Aaronson in the top European leagues after impressing stateside. 

Eintracht Frankfurt have agreed a deal with the MLS Cup finalists worth around $4million-plus-add-ons for the 19-year-old, according to MLS insider Tom Bogert.

The report adds that a medical is set to take place next week with the deal to be finalized afterwards. 

The German side is said to have been a longtime admirer of Aaronson and talks with Philadelphia have been ongoing for months. 

Frankfurt are believed to have fought off competition from European rivals, including Salzburg. 

The news of the deal comes on the eve of Philadelphia’s MLS Cup clash against Los Angeles FC. 

Aaronson made 23 appearances during the Union’s regular season but did not come off the bench in either of its playoff matchups against Cincinnati and New York FC. 

However, he has also impressed for the USMNT youth sides, winning the Golden Ball at Concacaf Under-20 championships.

The 19-year-old won the Golden Ball at Concacaf Under-20 championships with seven goals

He found the back of the next seven times across seven games at the 2022 tournament. 

His efforts helped the US earn spots at both the U20 World Cup and the 2024 Olympics. 

Aaronson will be looking to following in his 21-year-old brother’s footsteps. Brenden Aaronson has made a name for himself across the pond, completing a $28million move to Leeds United in summer.
