Labour MP Jess Phillips has recalled threats of sexual violence which were heightened during the Brexit debate.
Meanwhile, Conservative MP Flick Drummond left Twitter over the personal attacks to herself and her family, adding: “We are human beings and we can only take so much.”
More than 3,000 offensive tweets are sent to UK Members of Parliament every day, a BBC investigation into the extent of online abuse has found.
