New Arizona Cardinals head coach Jonathan Gannon has been the butt of social media jokes from NFL fans after the team released a video of the ex-Eagles DC meeting his new players.
Gannon, who left his post as Philadelphia’s defensive coordinator just days after the Super Bowl loss, was introduced to the media Thursday as the new leader of the struggling NFC West franchise.
The 40-year-old was seen introducing himself to the team in a video released by Arizona on the same day.
One Twitter account clipped Gannon’s interaction with wideout Rondale Moore – where he waved his arms while make noises to represent an creative, explosive offense – and captioned it with a comparison to Steve Carrell’s character in The Office.

‘What’s up man? How you doing? Shots. Explosives, explosives. You can run,’ Gannon said to Moore.
A 89-second video from the Cardinals showed interactions with quarterback Kyler Murray, tight end Zach Ertz, Moore and guard Will Hernandez, among others.
Fans flooded the reply section, with one questioning if it were a skit. Others were ready to already anoint Gannon as a ‘terrible coach.’
A rival 49ers fan went as far as to suggest ‘in two years you’ll be reproducing this clip with another coach.’
During Gannon’s introductory press conference he praised former boss, Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni, saying he got the ‘blueprint’ for leading a team from him.
The NFC champion coach was also mocked for his answers and demeanor before debuting.
‘He was extremely hard on me, extremely detail-oriented, but always had my back,’ Gannon said of Sirianni.
In addition, Gannon spoke highly of his new starting quarterback Kyler Murray.
‘I use the term “he’s a problem to defend” because what he can do – he’s a legit problem for defenses,’ Gannon admitted, adding that he has a, ‘very unique skillset.’
