Non-League sensation Ollie Tanner turned down a move to Spurs after winning round sceptical coaches who believed his unpleasant tweets about Harry Kane would prevent a move.
Seventh-tier Lewes said on Saturday that Tanner, 19, had turned down a contract with Tottenham after failing to agree personal terms.
And Sportsmail can reveal the details behind the teenager’s eventual snub.

Having shot to the attention of Spurs scouts he was invited to trial at the club’s Enfield HQ.
But the club were then alerted to nasty social media posts about Kane. Tanner, though, impressed scouts during the trial and they ended up offering him a deal to join their Under 23s’ set-up.
Lewes then confirmed that the move had collapsed.

Tottenham believed Tanner’s financial demands were excessive given he would not be going into the first team and refused to offer an improved deal.
Lewes were understood to be disappointed by developments. They would have received a £100,000 fee from Spurs for Tanner.
The 19-year-old winger had also been attracting interest from Southampton, Cardiff and Luton, while Brighton are said to have seen a bid rejected.
