Patrice Evra forced to apologise after filming a bizarre parody news report mocking Joleon Lescott

‘People in Amsterdam get as high as Joleon Lescott’s hairline’: Patrice Evra is forced to apologise after filming a bizarre parody news report mocking his ex-Man City rival’s forehead, which is scarred from a car crash when he was just five years old

Patrice Evra has been forced to apologise after filming a bizarre news parody where he mocks Joleon Lescott’s forehead, which is scarred from a car crash when the former defender was a child.

The former Manchester United left-back posted a parody on Saturday called ‘Pat TV’ on his Twitter page, which he still hasn’t deleted, where he pretends to be a news reporter talking about Euro 2020.

As he discusses Amsterdam in the video, where the last 16 tie between Denmark and Wales took place, Evra says the city is ‘where people like to get as high as Joleon Lescott’s forehead’.

The former Man City defender has previously explained how the scar on his forehead was caused by a severe head injury when he was five years old after he was struck by a car.

And less than 24 hours later, Evra took to Twitter again to express his apologies to his former Manchester derby rival as he claimed it was meant as ‘light-hearted banter’ whilst claiming he was unaware of the reason for Lescott’s scar.

Whilst he spoke of his regret at the joke, Evra still has not deleted the original video, where the bizarre joke can still be seen.

‘I have to apologise to Joleon Lescott and his family, the joke was never meant to cause hurt it was only meant as light hearted banter, had I known then what I know now, I would have never (sic) of said this.

‘Jo I hope you can accept my apology’

In Evra’s original post with the video, Evra tagged Lescott and writes: I don’t know why they make me say this! I promise you this was not my idea’ with a laughing face emoji.

Opening up in 2006 on the scar, Lescott told the Independent: ‘I have a scar but I have nothing to worry about.

‘I had a major operation straight away and several more over the next few months but I was young and didn’t really know too much about what was going on.’

It is not clear how well the duo know each other personally, but they have played against each other several times and both have appeared as a pundit on channels including Sky Sports.
