Paul Gallen has fallen short in his tilt at heavyweight title glory after being outclassed by Kris Terzievski in their scrap for the Australasian belt in Newcastle.
Gallen, 40, is desperate for a mega-fight against Sonny Bill Williams to end his strong professional boxing career and needed a convincing win over his Victorian rival to stamp himself as the No 1 fight for the All Blacks great.
However, the bulldozing former Cronulla Sharks captain was outfoxed from start to finish by his taller, more skilled rival on a chastening night for the veteran.
